Unleash Fam: from France to the European stage, with their eyes set on Paris

They’ve only been together for a few months, yet Unleash Fam have already become one of the most exciting names in Europe’s K-pop dance cover scene. Our exclusive interview to the European winners 👇

Formed in February 2026 for the French selection of the Kpop Fight Fest, the French crew quickly made an impression, earning their place at the European finals in Catania and ultimately taking home the championship title.

Now, their journey continues. The group has recently qualified for the Korea Expo Contest, with the grand final set to take place in Paris on June 20, 2026. Behind their rapid rise lies a combination of talent, hard work, and a genuine sense of connection. After all, they chose the word “Fam” instead of “Crew” for a reason.

The European Victory

What was going through your mind when your name was announced as the winners of the European Kpop Fight Fest?

(Elo): At first, it felt completely unreal. It was such a huge reward for all the hard work we had put into this project. Winning was proof of what we are capable of as a team, and we were incredibly proud to see our efforts pay off. It was also an honor to represent France on an international stage and share our work with people from all over Europe. More than anything, this victory motivated us to keep pushing our limits and aim even higher in the future.

(Selma): Personally, this victory is part of a journey that’s been helping me build confidence and feel proud of what I’ve accomplished with my team. One thing I always fear is becoming numb to the things I love, but every time I hear our name announced as the winner, I still get the same rush of excitement and adrenaline. It reminds me why I love doing this. For the team, though, the meaning is even bigger. Many of us didn’t know each other before joining this project. In fact, I only knew Alex. Yet through this experience, we’ve built something much stronger than a dance crew. In just a few months, we’ve become a small family, a safe place where everyone belongs and where everyone wants to come back whenever a new opportunity appears.

Is there one moment from Catania that you’ll never forget?

(Flo): Definitely the moment our group’s name was announced. Everything felt surreal, almost like time had stopped. All the stress disappeared in an instant. Some of us cried, we hugged each other, we jumped around and celebrated together. It’s a memory we’ll carry with us forever.

How was your experience in Italy?

(Elo): It was amazing. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the Italian audience was fantastic. We could hear people cheering and screaming while we were performing, and that gave us so much energy on stage. We also loved meeting dancers from different countries and discovering different styles and cultures. The whole atmosphere was positive and supportive, and it allowed us to fully enjoy every moment of the event.

Building a Family

Unleash Fam was only created a few months ago. How did the project begin?

(Alex): The crew was created in February 2026 with the goal of competing in the Kpop Fight Fest. At the beginning, most of us didn’t know each other. Everyone came from different dance backgrounds, had different working methods, and different mindsets. Learning how to work together was probably our biggest challenge. Over time, we found a dynamic that suited us and developed strong communication within the team, which helped us grow very quickly.

Why did you choose the name “Unleash Fam”?

(Group): We chose it together. “Unleash” represents the way we feel when we dance: free, unstoppable, and ready to share our energy and passion. We chose “Fam” instead of “Crew” because our goal was never just to create a team. We wanted to build a family.

Looking back, what have been the defining milestones in your journey so far?

(Alex): There are two moments that stand out. The first was qualifying during the French selection at Paris Manga. That’s when we realized we had something special and that people were connecting with our work and energy. The second was winning the European title in Catania. That was the moment we knew this journey wasn’t ending anytime soon.

The Winning Performance

You chose “Hit” by SEVENTEEN for the European stage. What made that choreography the right choice?

(Selma): It felt like a very natural choice. We had already performed the song before and spent a lot of time analyzing every move and every intention behind the choreography. The more we studied it, the more we realized it was a perfect performance piece.

For the European finals, though, we wanted to elevate it even further. We added a dance break, introduced new details such as the flag, created more interactions, and worked even harder on synchronization and execution. But honestly, I think one of the biggest reasons the performance worked so well was the atmosphere within the team. Every rehearsal was filled with motivation, laughter, and genuine enjoyment. Nothing ever felt tense or forced, and I believe that energy translated directly onto the stage.

What was the biggest challenge in bringing the group together?

(Alex): Every member has different tastes when it comes to dance. Finding a choreography that allows everyone to shine can be difficult because our styles are so varied. We always try to choose performances that highlight our individual strengths while also creating something unique as a group.

How does your creative process work?

(Hema): The most important thing is to think as a team. You’re not there to shine alone, you’re there to make the entire group shine. Creativity is very collaborative for us. Everyone shares ideas, and we try to bring as many of them to life as possible so that every member can contribute to the final performance.

More Than a Dance Crew

What makes Unleash Fam unique?

(Lucas): I think it’s how complementary we are. We’ve only known each other for about three months, but our artistic identities fit together surprisingly well. Beyond that, there’s our dedication, our drive to constantly improve, and most importantly, the friendship we’ve built over such a short period of time.

If you had to describe the crew in three words, what would they be?

(Lucas): Brotherhood, fun, and determination.

The first two are pretty self-explanatory, but the fun aspect is something we really value. Our rehearsals were probably 50 percent hard work and 50 percent messing around. We love creating a healthy, positive environment where people can dance freely without feeling judged or pressured.

It sounds like everyone has developed a specific role within the group.

(Flo): Absolutely. It happened naturally. I’m basically the group’s mom, even though I’m not the oldest. I’m usually the one handling practical things, from booking flights to making sure everyone is prepared.

Alex is the person who brought us all together. He’s also the oldest and probably the funniest, while always knowing what to say when someone needs advice. Selma is our youngest member, but she brings incredible energy both on and off stage. Elo is definitely the most stressed member, but she shares the “mom” role with me. Emma is one of the funniest people in the group and has this amazing ability to make everyone feel comfortable. And then there’s Lucas, our little vampire because he hates the sun, even though he shines so brightly on stage. Six months ago, we didn’t know each other at all. Today, we have an incredible connection, and we’re really grateful that Alex brought us together.

Dance, K-pop and Inspiration

How did your journey with K-pop and dance begin?

(Hema): I discovered K-pop when I was very young. I remember being ten years old when a friend showed me a Girls’ Generation dance practice so we could learn the choreography and perform it at our school’s end-of-year show. Unfortunately, that part of the show was eventually cancelled, but it was my introduction to K-pop. I started dancing at fourteen because my mother is a dancer and I wanted to follow in her footsteps. I trained in Modern Jazz, Street Jazz, Commercial, and Hip-Hop. Around the same time, I discovered artists like BTS and BLACKPINK and eventually joined my first K-pop dance crew, where I learned so much about performance and teamwork.

How would you describe the current French dance cover scene?

(Hema): It’s incredibly talented. France has so many crews producing high-quality covers and performances. Especially in Paris, it’s common to see dance videos that look like they came straight from a professional entertainment agency. It’s a huge source of inspiration for us.

Audience connection seems to be an important part of your performances.

(Selma): Absolutely. For us, the audience is part of the performance. Technical aspects matter, of course. Synchronization matters. Energy matters. But when we’re on stage, we want people to feel the joy, excitement, and fun that we’re experiencing ourselves. We need that exchange of energy with the audience. Another thing I’d love people to understand is that beyond being six dancers who won a competition, we’re simply six friends who chose to dedicate time to something we love. We practiced together, grew together, and built genuine friendships. I think that’s something people can feel when they watch us perform.

Looking Ahead

What’s next for Unleash Fam?

(Lucas): Right now, we’re fully focused on the Korea Expo Contest in Paris. Everything has happened so quickly that we haven’t really had time to discuss long-term goals yet.

What we do know is that we loved traveling and performing abroad. Our ambitions all seem to point in the same direction: continuing to dance internationally. And with a little luck and a lot of determination, we’d love to earn a ticket to Seoul one day and represent France there.

What advice would you give to young dancers who look up to you?

(Elo): Don’t be afraid to chase your dreams. Many of us started dancing when we were very young. If you’re willing to put in the time, effort, and dedication, you can achieve incredible things.

Believe in yourself, don’t let other people’s opinions hold you back, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Most importantly, enjoy the journey and keep dancing because you genuinely love it.

Finally, is there a message you’d like to share with everyone supporting you?

(Flo): We want to thank every single person who supports us. We’re incredibly grateful for the trust and encouragement we’ve received. We wouldn’t have become European Champions without that support, and we hope everyone will continue following us on our future adventures.

From a newly formed project to European champions in just a few months, Unleash Fam’s story is only beginning. Their victory in Catania has already secured them a place among the most promising K-pop dance crews in Europe. The next chapter will be written in Paris on June 20, where they’ll step onto the stage of the Korea Expo Contest carrying not only the hopes of their team, but also the spirit that has defined them from day one: friendship, passion, and the determination to keep moving forward.
